What is the single most challenging part of any website project?  It’s ALWAYS the copy. Nine times out of ten, business owners struggle with the words that go on their website.

Luckily, over here at LB Media we have experienced copywriters who can take your business, vision, and brand – and craft you copy that converts!

But what if you still want to write your own copy?

Here are my top nine copywriting tips:

1) BE CLEAR:
Your website needs to have a clear message (no fluff, no distractions). This means paring it all down, remove the junk.

2) KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE:
Your copy needs to reflect what is in your audience’s head. You are going for the “how do you know exactly what i’m thinking” response.

3) SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE:
Your copy should read like your customer wrote it.

4) FOCUS ON BENEFITS:
Talk less about your product or service and more about the value your product brings.

5) MAKE IT SKIMMABLE:
Everything that your audience needs to know must be in the headlines, subheadlines, and first couple sentences of each paragraph.

6) ADDRESS OBJECTIONS:
Make sure to answer the most common objections you get  ie: price, ease of use, etc.

7) GET SPECIFIC:
Instead of “save today” write “save $31.55 today”.

8) CALL-TO-VALUE:
Not call-to-action – Instead of “sign up now” use “create your website” – instead of “free trial” use “send me the blueprint”

9) WRITE FOR ONE READER:
You’re not talking to 1000 people. You’re talking to the single person reading your page. So write like it.  Ie: “we sane an email each morning” Instead use “we send you an email each morning”.
